Sanaat Bladi Al Jil Al Jadid fifth season’s competitions have concluded on February 17, 2015 with the announcement of the winners.
This year's competition marked the winning of Fatima Essajid, representing the city of Yusufia, the title of the best apprentice in the carpet category, for which she received the Innovation Award granted by the OCP group.
The Innovation award by OCP, the official sponsor of the program since its first season, shows the will of the group in helping the development of the Moroccan traditional industry, and its support to young artisans in developping their projects. It also testifies to OCP’s will in encouraging the values of creativity, innovation, and collaboration.
The 3rd medical caravan specialized in cardiology was held from April 10th to 12th in the province of Fqih Ben Saleh. Organized by OCP Foundation, with the support of Khouribga’s OCP site and in partnership with the Province of Fkih Bensaleh, the caravan aimed to ensure the continuity of the previous two editions that were devoted to ophthalmology, and to gynecology and pediatrics.
Following a campaign of pre-diagnosis which concerned 2,200 inhabitant of the rural community of Oulad Bourahmoun, this time, within 3 days, more than 360 persons have benefited from consultations in cardiology. In this effect, a medical team of cardiologists, generalists, and paramedical has been mobilized. A fourth caravan concerning endocrinal diseases and diabetes will soon be organized in other communities of the province.
It is worth noting that this operation comes under the framework of activities programmed for the province of Fqih Ben Saleh of which objective is to fight the disparities in access to health care and to provide quality medical care to the poor.
The 1st edition of Youth and Family Festival was held in Youssoufia from April 5th to 12th. Such initiative comes as a support to the strategy of the OCP’s Gantour site which plays a major role in a sociocultural animation in the town of Youssoufia.
The festival was organized by local associations "Al Machaal" for theater and cultural animation and "Al Mostakbal" for social development and was divided to 3 parts. The first part was devoted to children of the province through circumcision operation that concerned 390 boys.
The festival continued with a 3-day kermess, which was attended by nearly 3000 children who came to profit from educational workshops, inflatable castles and multiple sets of games. The last part of the festival was dedicated to families with an outdoor musical event that had national and local artists.
With the support of the Specialized Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (SICA), the city council of Benguerir and the OCP’s site of Gantour with the Association for Culture and Development "Panorama" has organized the 2nd edition of the film festival of Benguerir. The Festival was held between the 4th and the 7th of April under the theme "cinema and universal human values".
The 3rd edition of poetry meeting days in Safi took place from March 19th to 21st. Organized by "Alkalima for culture and art", the event aims at accentuating the importance of poetry in the cultural development. The event witnessed the participation of a group of poets from 11 Arab and European countries.
Simultaneously, a rich poetry program of meetings has been organized at high schools and universities of Safi in order to promote cultural activity in the city.
This program is part of the agreement signed on Saturday, 28th March in Laayoune, with the CGEM, OFPPT and Phosboucraa Foundation at the Regional Investment Forum of the Southern Provinces. Such agreement aims at certifying 11.500 young people in the three southern regions: Guelmim-Smara, Laâyoune-Boujdour-Sakia el Hamra et Oued Eddahab-Lagouira.
"Because we are engaged for a sustainable development of the southern provinces, we place a particular importance to works activities and initiatives that contribute to the reinforcement of the skills of our youth. By signing this agreement, the Phosboucraa foundation will provide a substantial financial support to the Microsoft program" Hajbouha Zoubeir, vice president of Phosboucraa Foundaition.
OCP Foundation and the Department of Gantour have jointly organized a surgical and multi-discipline caravan at Lalla Hasna provincial hospital of Youssoufia. A medical caravan set for medical consultation has, in parallel, visited the villages of Sidi Ahmed et Mzdina for 20th and 21st of last March.
In total, 2,242 patients have benefited from this health program with the help of 2,113 medical consultations, more than a hundred operations, and 330 postoperative supplementary examinations.
As a completion for this program, a campaign of awareness on oral hygiene has been launched in four schools in Sidi Ahmed and Mzinda, for the benefit of 1,087 students.
On 11th of March, OCP Foundation has organized a day for launching the project of "Development of Fig" in Khmiss Mtouh in El Jadida province, in partnership with Regional Office for Agricultural Development of Doukkala and the Provincial Committee for Human Development of El Jadida. Thus, more than 50 small farmers, affiliated with the Green Union of Professional Organizations for Development of Culture of the Fig Tree (project leader organization) met to establish an inventory of the various stages of implementation of the program whose deployment will last 4 years.
The agricultural development plan aims to improve the living conditions of small farmers through the organization and modernization of the small domestic agriculture. It also aims to achieve three major objectives: increase productivity from 7 T / ha to 10 t / ha, enhance production through the construction of a packaging unit and drying and improved marketing of the circuit, and finally improve the income of the small farmer. Through this strategic project, nearly 1,000 small farmers will benefit from an extension of the area of 1000 ha fig, an intensification of 800 ha, the acquisition of agricultural equipment, as well as the introduction of a drying unit and packaging production.
In partnership with OCP Entrepreneurship Network, Startup Morocco hosted the final of the second edition of Morocco StartUp Cup on February 21 at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and services in Khouribga. StartUp Cup is part of a global network specializing in the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems and job creation. It exists in over 60 countries and is an official partner of the program of the US State Department "Global Entrepreneurship Program".
To promote innovative entrepreneurship in Morocco, the association StartUp Morocco launched in June 2014 with its official partner OCP Entrepreneurship Network, the 2nd edition of Morocco StartUp Cup, a competition Startups acceleration imported from Silicon Valley.
After deliberations, the price of StartUp Morocco is won by SAFEDEMAT Company that is recognized by the Morocco as an innovative company through obtaining a grant of 1 million in the INTILAK project.
As part of the deployment of the strategic axis of sustainable development, the site of Gantour launched an ambitious mining rehabilitation program with large planting actions. The kickoff of the first campaign in 2015 was on 17 February 2015. This campaign aims for the rehabilitation and afforestation of 100 ha, the planting of 42,000 trees of different species adapted to the climate of the region, and other species introduced for experimentation. In total, the program will allow the plantation of 200 ha of land per year.
