From March 12 to 14, Marrakesh hosted “Phosphates 2018”, a key event for the phosphate and fertilizer industry. It was organized by London-based CRU Group, an independent global leader that provides analysis and consulting services and holds conferences in the field of metals, mining, and fertilizers. This was the second time that the event was held in Morocco with the support of OCP Group. Global phosphate experts, professionals, and producers from more than 30 countries participated in the event. OCP Group presented a global perspective of the phosphate market’s evolution. It also shared how it is implementing its industrial development strategy aimed at increasing its phosphate product production capacity in order to meet the growing global demand for agricultural fertilizers.
Now operating in Africa through its OCP Africa subsidiary, the Group explained the foundation for its strategy on the continent. It was an opportunity to reveal the role that the Group has in the emergence of Africa’s fertilizer industry, which is banking on sustainable agricultural practices and efficient and responsible production. OCP held several workshops and shared practical operational cases. It also invited all the participants of this 11th edition to visit its mining and industrial facilities, including new mines, industrial and port infrastructure, new integrated fertilizer units, and the Slurry Pipeline.
